Este mes, buscando donde hacer un molde a una figura que tengo ahora mismo entre manos, me he encontrado casi por casualidad con el “atelier de moulage” de Bruselas, es decir un taller de moldes, parte del museo real de arte y de historia de Bruselas.

Este museo, establecido en el siglo XIX, alberga una colección  de más de 4000 moldes de figuras que datan desde la prehistoria hasta el siglo XVIII.

Este tipo de taller de moldes artesanos hechos siguiendo las más antiguas técnicas tradicionales no es fácil de encontrar y de hecho se cuentan con los dedos de una mano el número de ellos en toda Europa.

This month, looking for a place where to have a mold  cast on a figure that I am currently working in, I have found in Brussels, almost by chance,  the «atelier de moulage», that to say a plaster casting workshop, what is a part of the Royal Museum of Art and History of Brussels.

This workshop, established in the XIX century, houses a collection of more than 4000 molds of sculptures dating from the prehistory to the eighteenth century.

This type of plaster casting workshop that puts into practice the oldest casting techniques are not easy to find in Europe and in fact you can count them on the fingers of one hand.
