Febrero / February 2020. Monumento a los Heroes de Baler.

Este mes se ha inaugurado en Madrid, en la plaza del Conde del Valle Suchil, el monumento a los héroes de Baler, obra del escultor Salvador Amaya.

Se conmemora el 120 aniversario del sitio de Baler, donde soldados españoles resistieron, durante casi un año, el asedio de los insurrectos filipinos, hasta que fueron convencidos de que la guerra había acabado tiempo atrás.

En definitiva, un monumento que rinde homenaje a los soldados que estuvieron dispuestos a defender a España hasta la ultima gota de su sangre.

Así que me he acercado a verlo, pues el motivo sin duda lo merece.

This month, the monument to the “Heroes of Baler”, the work of the sculptor Salvador Amaya, has been inaugurated in Madrid, in the Plaza del Conde del Valle Suchil.

It commemorates the 120th anniversary of the Baler siege, where a bunch of Spanish soldiers resisted for almost a year till they were convinced that the war was really over.

In short, a monument that pays tribute to the soldiers commited to defended Spain with their own lives.

So I went to see it, since the reason with no doubt deserves it.
