War College Emblem

The sculpture «War College Emblem» by José Crespo is a meticulously crafted piece that captures the distinctive symbols of the War College with precision and detail. Made of bronze, the artwork features a central star surrounded by a laurel wreath of oak leaves, symbolizing strength and resilience.

The five-pointed star, positioned at the center of the composition, serves as an emblem of excellence and military leadership. Its sharp and precise lines highlight its significance as a symbol of command.

The surrounding oak leaf wreath is sculpted with impressive realism, showcasing each leaf’s veins and natural textures. Acorns interspersed among the leaves add an extra touch of authenticity, symbolizing endurance and strength—qualities highly valued in military leadership.

The bronze features an aged green patina, adding depth and a sense of history to the piece while accentuating the intricate details of the wreath and star. The sculpture is mounted on a simple base, allowing the decorative elements to stand out without distractions.

«A completely different subject and format from what I had done before. This piece emerged as a commission in February 2009 in Madrid.

Ultimately, I return to a theme that fascinates me—trees. In this case, the oak, as much of the design is composed of oak leaves. These leaves are deeply embedded in Spanish military iconography due to their symbolism. A clear example of this is the emblem of the special operations units.

For the original model, I worked for the first time with sculptor’s plastiline. For figures of this kind, the results were fantastic.»
