Febrero / February 2020. Monumento a los Heroes de Baler.
Este mes se ha inaugurado en Madrid, en la plaza del Conde del Valle Suchil, el monumento a los héroes de Baler, obra del escultor Salvador Amaya. Se conmemora el 120 aniversario del sitio de Baler, donde soldados españoles resistieron, durante casi un año, el asedio de los insurrectos filipinos, hasta que fueron convencidos de que la guerra había acabado tiempo atrás. En definitiva, un monumento que rinde homenaje a los soldados que estuvieron dispuestos a defender a España hasta la ultima gota de su sangre. Así que me he acercado a verlo, pues el motivo sin duda lo merece. —————oo0oo————— This month, the monument to the “Heroes of Baler”, the work of the sculptor Salvador Amaya, has been inaugurated in Madrid, in the Plaza del Conde del Valle Suchil. It commemorates the 120th anniversary of the Baler siege, where a bunch of Spanish soldiers resisted for almost a year till they were convinced that the war was really over. In short, a monument that pays tribute to the soldiers commited to defended Spain with their own lives. So I went to see it, since the reason with no doubt deserves it.
Enero 2020 / January 2020. Dia de los Tercios.
Este mes he dibujado todo lo que podido, que por otra parte nunca es suficiente, especialmente si el trabajo te deja poco tiempo libre. Alguno de esos nuevos dibujos lo podeis ver aquí, en el area de dibujos y plumillas. Por otra parte, este es un mes importante pues el dia 31 se celebra el “dia de los Tercios”. Una iniciativa con la finalidad de recuperar y divulgar la historia de aquellas fantasticas unidades que se convirtieron en la mejor Infanteria del mundo. Asi que uniéndome a dicha iniciativa, aquí os presento un autentico piquero de los Tercios de Flandes. Una escultura que hice ya unos años atrás. “Todas las picas suman, únete al cuadro” —————oo0oo————— This month I have been drawing as much as I could, although, on the other hand it is never enough, specially if work provides you with little free time for art. By the way, I have loaded some of these new drawings here, in the area of pen & ink. On the other hand, this is an important month because on the 31st it is celebrated «Day of the Tercios«. An initiative with the clear purpose of recovering and showing around the history of those fantastic infantry units that became the best Infantry ever. So joining this initiative, here I present to you an authentic pikerman of the Tercios of Flanders. A sculpture that I made a few years ago. “All the pikes add up, so join the square!”
Diciembre / December 2019. Museo Thyssen.
Durante estos ultimos dias del mes de diciembre he aprovechado para revisitar el Thyssen. ¡Como me gusta a mi esto de los museos! Y especialmente si es uno de los grandes como es el caso. La exposicion temporal “Los impresionistas y la fotografía” ha sido la escusa par volver al Thyssen y de paso darme un baño de impresionismo. Y ya que estábamos, ¡Pues vamos a ver el museo completo! Asi que en uno de los pasillos me he encontrado con esta magnifica Natividad de mitad del siglo XV, del artista Jaques Daret. Una autentica maravilla. Aprovecho esta Natividad para desearos una Feliz Navidad. —————oo0oo————— During these last days of December I have taken the opportunity to revisit the Thyssen museum in Madrid. I really like visiting museums! And especially if it a big one, as it is the case. The temporary exhibition «The impressionists and photography» has been the perfect excuse to return to Thyssen and at the same time to take a bath of impressionism. And since I was there, well, let’s see the whole museum! And in one of the halls I happened to come across this magnificent Nativity, mid 15th century, by the artist Jaques Daret. Really wonderful! Let me take advantage of this Nativity to wish you all Merry Christmas.
Mayo / May 2012. No hay a su pié risco vedado…
Bueno, pues aquí en Mayo de 2012 empieza este blog, una aventura que espero que sea de largo recorrido a la vez que apasionante, como se supone que es la ruta 66 a los mandos de un Corvette del 57 como el de arriba. Bienvenidos pues a este blog donde espero poder dedicar un poco de tiempo periódicamente para contaros mis impresiones y avances artísticos. Del mismo modo que espero vuestros comentarios… Como decíamos en la COE-52; “No hay a su pie risco vedado…” O como diría el otro; “Quien dijo miedo”. ————————–00O00————————— This is May 2012, a perfect moment to start this blog! I hope it to be a long distance and thrilling one, the same as the route 66 at the wheel of a Corvette 1957 is supposed to be.
