Bull II
This sculpture by José Crespo depicts a bull in a dynamic and powerful pose, capturing the essence of this majestic animal with remarkable realism. The bull is modeled with meticulous attention to anatomical details, emphasizing its robust musculature and alert posture, which conveys a sense of strength and determination. The surface texture features detailed finishing that interacts with light, enhancing the shadows and contours of the bull’s body.
The material used gives the sculpture a warm and deep tone, accentuating the intensity of the figure. The sculpture is mounted on a dark marble base with white veins, adding a touch of elegance and stability to the piece, while contrasting with and further highlighting the bull’s figure.
This work reflects José Crespo’s ability to capture the spirit and energy of the bull, presenting it not only as a symbol of strength but also as a piece of art that invites contemplation and admiration for its detailed craftsmanship and faithful representation.
I had already attempted a bull figure before, but this time I aimed to create a bull with more movement. A new challenge. Once again, I relied on photos from various bullfighting magazines and the internet for reference.
I completed it between October and November 2008 in Madrid.
