SEPTIEMBRE / SEPTEMBER 2025. Hércules en cera perdida. Bueno, pues este mes he estado disfrutando a tope de la escultura a la cera perdida. He echado un buen número de horas, pero esta taréa me absorbe de tal manera que ese tiempo ha pasado volando. Ahi en la foto podeis ver a Hércules, hijo de Zeus, el semidiós que sufría como los mortales. Su fuerza interior y su capacidad para superar las dificultades lo convirtieron en una figura inspiradora para el pueblo y en un símbolo de estabilidad en medio del caos. Un buen motivo para una escultura, sí señor. Por otra parte, si una cosa he notado desde la última escultura que hice, es que la existencia de diferentes herramientas con las que poder ver en el ordenador una imagen en tres dimensiones facilita mucho el trabajo escultórico y permite realizarlo en un menor espacio de tiempo. ¡Los tiempos avanzan que es una barbaridad! Bueno, pues ahí teneis al héroe pisando la cabeza del león de Nemea, en dos tamaños diferentes. Y una vez que pase por la fundición, espero poder mostraros el resultado final en bronce. —————oo0oo————— Well, this month I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the lost-wax sculpture practice. I’ve put in a good number of hours, but this task absorbs me so much that the time has flown by. There in the photo you can see Hercules, son of Zeus, the demigod who suffered like mortals. His inner strength and ability to overcome difficulties made him an inspirational figure for the people and a symbol of stability amidst chaos. A good motif for a sculpture! On the other hand, I’ve noticed at least one thing since the last sculpture I made: nowadays, the existence of different tools to view an image in 3D on a computer helps the sculptor a lot and allows the work to be completed in a shorter period of time. Times are moving forward so fast, it’s incredible! Well, there you have the hero in two different sizes trampling on the head of the Nemean lion. And once it’s cast is finished, I hope I can show you the final result in bronze.
AGOSTO / AUGUST 2025. Vuelta a la escultura.
Bueno, pues este mes, aparte de subir a dibujar repetidas veces a la Alhambra y poder disfrutar de su hechizo, he desempolvado los archiperres de esculpir a la cera perdida y le he dedicado un buen rato a ello. Hacía ya una buena temporada que no me dedicaba a esa tarea, pero las oportunidades salen cuando uno menos se lo espera… Realmente es una sensación maravillosa y un placer el volver a ver “crecer” una figura desde un bloque original de cera. Guardando las distancias, me viene a la memoria aquel bloque de mármol “el gigante” que durante muchos años estuvo tirado frente a la catedral de Florencia, pues era supuestamente defectuoso y que posteriormente Miguel Ángel recogió y convirtió en el David y del que decía que dicho personaje estaba ya dentro del bloque, solo había que sacarlo, ha, ha… Por otra parte, compruebo que después de unos años sin esculpir nuevas obras, no se pierde la mano, lo que es una satisfacción grande. Pues eso, entre dibujo y dibujo, escultura… Un planazo. —————oo0oo————— Back to sculpture. It was supposedly defective, and Michelangelo took it and turned it into his David. He said that the figure was already inside the block; all that needed was to be taken out, ha, ha… On the other hand, I find that after a few years without sculpting new works, I have not lost the skills, which is great. Well, between drawing and drawing, some sculpting… Sounds like a great plan!
