Mayo / May 2020.

Here we are this month a veteran of the Tercio Viejo of Sicily encouraging us to rescue our history from oblivion. A history we can be more than proud of and that others would only brag if they had had it. But there is no other country in the West that can boast of deeds like those carried out by the Spaniards, who were owners of an empire where the sun did not set and where we were always a handful of men facing ordeals. It is our duty to tell what we did to our future generations.

By the way, in 1989, in Irún, in the battalion Colon XXIV of the Regiment Tercio Viejo of Sicily Nº 67, I had the fortune to serve as a second lieutenent cadet in practices.

What a magnificent military unit! High level of instruction! Soldiers, NCOs and officers with great standards! Every day we trotted up full equiped to Mount Zubelzu, where the training field was located. Those were slopes to keep the people in good shape!

We are proud heirs of the veteran of the Tercio Viejo of Sicily that you can see in the image.
